SYSTEMS APPROACH TO IT MANAGERS’ PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF IN THE USA HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
Abstract
The problem topicality is highlighted. In the article, the author reviews the notion of the systems approach as a method of scientific research, and outlines the goals and functions of the systems approach in pedagogy. The author also details principles of the systems approach (integrity, hierarchical structure, multiplicity, structuring, systematicity) and the aspects making connections between the system structure, its components, functions, goals, resources, properties as well as its formation conditions and interaction with other systems). Further, the author lists the components of the educational process as a system (product, input, resources, constrains, strategy, feedback, and evaluation) and emphasizes the importance of a systems approach to vocational training and learning as a whole, and IT management in particular. The author gives several practical examples of how U.S. leading higher educational institutions apply a systems approach when training future IT professionals and IT managers. She establishes that a systems approach is critical to improving the process of professional training of IT managers at all levels (bachelors, masters, PhDs, trainees, professional career). The author concludes that application of a systems approach to professional training of IT managers requires further research and suggests implementation of the U.S. best approaches to organization of the professional training of IT managers in Ukraine’s higher education institutions.
