PERSONALISATION OF VOCAL TRAINING IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS OF THE PRC: APPROACHES TO DEFINING THE CONCEPT, DIRECTIONS OF IMPLEMENTATION

Abstract

Based on the analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature on the problem of personalisation of students' learning, the review article identifies approaches to the definition of the term «personalisation of learning». It is emphasized that both Ukrainian and Chinese scholars do not have unity in its interpretation. Scholars define the category of «personalisation of learning» along with the concept of «individualisation of learning», while there is no clear distinction between these terms in the definitions of Ukrainian and Chinese scholars. Ukrainian scholars, considering the interconnection of these processes, emphasize the subjective position of the student in personalising learning, his/her active role in setting goals, determining success indicators, choosing the content of education, the connection between personalisation of learning and its educational aspect, the implementation by students of their self-discovery in the realisation of the need to be represented in the life of other learning subjects, their mutual enrichment during learning, etc. The article summarizes the views of Chinese scholars and practitioners on the importance of personalisation of learning to overcome certain shortcomings of the traditional approach to teaching vocal, increase the level of motivation, musical literacy, and vocal performance of students. The recommendations provided by vocal instructors regarding the implementation of personalized learning include comprehensive study and assessment of students' musical literacy and basic vocal abilities; the development of individual learning goals, individual study plans and programs, personalized learning content, and individual learning tasks that take into account the learning capabilities, vocal abilities, needs, and preferences of students; encouraging learners to study in their own unique way; updating and adjusting the control system, establishing personalized assessment of students' learning outcomes; and creating a relaxed, democratic atmosphere in the interaction between instructors and learners.
